R.I.P CHALLENGE 1 Sep - 31 Oct

I'll be adding one more challenge...when I thought I couldn't do no mo'.....I was wrong. More keep popping up and this one is definitely do-able. I read the genre and this challenge is nice and loosey-goosey. No list to make and keep to, just find whatever in the genres and read them before 31 Oct.
Here's what I posted on RIP so I can remind myself what the heck I said I'd read!
Count me in. I read the genres anyway, be good to count it for something fun. I believe I will loosely pool authors and go from there….Dan Simmons, John Saul, Jeff Long, Patricia Briggs, Kat Richardson, Charlaine Harris, Robert R McCammon, F Paul Wilson, Jeaniene Frost, Mario Acevedo…a few others out there…leave myself open for possibilities.
THE GLASS HARMONICA - Louise Farley (Oct)
ANY GIVEN DOOMSDAY - Lori Handeland (Sept)
SEVEN SPIDERS SPINNING - Gregory Maguire (Sept)
FOOL MOON - Jim Butcher (Sept)
BECAUSE YOUR VAMPIRE SAID SO - Michele Bardsley (Oct)

ARTHURIAN CHALLENGE - April 2008 - March 2009

Thanks Becky! This is one of my keeper shelves at home, so this will be fun and easy....though I will likely have to go shopping for new additions as I read others TBR suggestions....darn the luck...
The link is on the sidebar here and here is what Becky has loosely named as the rules:
When: April 2008 through March 2009
Goal: To read 6-12 books starring characters found in or inspired by Arthurian legends. (King Arthur, Guinevere, Lancelot, Merlin, Lady of the Lake, etc.)
How: Sign up. It’s quick and simple. Just announce your intention to participate.
Rules: I don’t really believe in having many rules.
No lists are necessary. You can change your mind on WHAT you reading or should that be WHO you’re reading at any time.
If at any time you dislike a book, then feel free to discard it and pick up another. Don’t feel obligated to push through a book you don’t like on my account!!!

What about movies? What about graphic novels? What about comics? What about audio books? Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. All of those things count. So though it says 6-12 books. It can be a variety of things–book, movie, tv show, comic book, graphic novel, etc.
Kids books. YA books. Adult books. All count.
What about series books? Or series books in all-in-one editions? I’m leaving it up to you. For example, some might consider The Once and Future King to count as one book. Some might consider it to be four separate books. I’m probably going to count it as four books for my challenge. You can do the same. If your goal is six books, and you want four of them to be The Once and Future King, then that is fine with me. I won’t call you a cheater-pants.

What about short stories or poetry? Yes and yes. Anything really can go.
What about rereads? Sure why not!

What about books read prior to April 1, 2008? It depends. Use your judgment. I reviewed one the last week of March. (March 2008). I’m planning on using it towards the challenge. I wouldn’t search your posts too far back though. So if you read it in 2008, then that’s okay. But any further back, and we might call you a cheater-pants.
What about reviews? I’ll be doing Mr. Linky most likely. If not, I’ll do it the old fashioned way. You can leave a link if you’ve got a blog. Or you could write a review in the comments. This could be a sample review for those hesitant to write and share. “I read The Sword in the Stone. I liked it. Would recommend to others.” It can be really short and sweet and simple. Title of the book. Name of the author. A few adjectives describing how you felt about it. If you enjoyed it. It’s so not a big deal.

I HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE CHALLENGE

Thanks Lynne!! Lynne' Little Corner of the World is having a pretty nifty little challenge. Here's her blurb:
I'm always looking for new books and new authors. I've gotten quite a few titles from Amazon.com. They always seem to have recommendations for me. I've also found some from other bloggers.

Where do you find new books to read? Do you get recommendations from friends? From the library? From the person next to you on the plane or train or bus? From other book blogs?

The goal of this challenge is to read 3 new-to-you books between June 1 and November 30 that have been recommended to you. Any type of book is OK. It can even be a book by an author you've read before. Cross-overs with other challenges are fine, and you can change books at any time. And there will be a prize at the end of the challenge. You will need to sign up before June 1.

I will look through Mt Git'r'Read and see what three books I can find that were recommended to me. It will likely be books I've commented on with J Kaye's blog and consequently won.

Thinning down my blog..with anther blog!!

Going to give this a try. I saw where Lynne has a blog just for her challenges. I think I will give this a try, too. My challenges are growing exponentially and the side or legend of my regular blog is expanding down at an 'alarming' rate.
